Tropical Sunrise Smoothie

This smoothie is a real crowd pleaser. It is sweet, delicious, and highly nutritious! It has a beautiful bright orange color, and consuming a pint size serving offers you 3 servings of fruit for the day. So, start your day off with this yummy treat and you will be well on your way to meeting your fruit and veggie needs for the day.

This “Tropical Sunrise Smoothie” has been a favorite at our house lately. I feel great about giving it to my family because it contains mangoes, bananas, and pineapples, which are sources for  many important nutrients.

Mangoes are a highly nutritious fruit. Just one mango (1 cup of fruit) provides over 175% of your daily vitamin A intake, about 60% of your daily vitamin C needs, and approximately 20% of your daily needs for copper. Mangoes are also a very good source for B vitamins and a good source of vitamin E, magnesium and potassium.

Bananas provide an excellent source for vitamin B6 and potassium. They also are a good source for fiber, vitamin C, biotin, magnesium, and riboflavin.

Pineapple provides an excellent source for magnesium and vitamin C.

It is recommended that women consume a minimum of 25 grams and men 38 grams of fiber each day. Fiber intake has been found to have overwhelming benefits for decreasing risk factors for many chronic diseases. This smoothie contains about 8 grams of fiber, so it is an excellent addition to your diet. Plus, it is very simple to make!

This recipe makes 1 serving, but it can easily be doubled or tripled.

Ingredients:

  • 1 mango (peeled and pit removed)
  • 1 banana (peeled)
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • Water (optional, as needed)

Method:

  1. Combine mango, banana, and pineapple in the blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Add water in small amounts in order to attain the desired consistency.
  3. Drink right away!
